چکیده

Introduction Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is an emerging technique for a more accurate assessment of local renal function [1]. However, the measured time intensity curves used for quantification of renal blood flow or glomerlar filtration rate are hampered by motion artefacts, mainly from respiration of the patient [2]. To correct for such motion, image registration is needed. Here, we analysed the feasibility of a variational approach to image registration in DCE-MRI of the human kidney.

New Pseudo-CT Generation Approach from Magnetic Resonance Imaging using a Local Texture Descriptor

Background: One of the challenges of PET/MRI combined systems is to derive an attenuation map to correct the PET image. For that, the pseudo-CT image could be used to correct the attenuation. Until now, most existing scientific researches construct this pseudo-CT image using the registration techniques. However, these techniques suffer from the local minima of the non-rigid deformation energy f...

DCE-MRI Non-Rigid Kidney Registration

Introduction: Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) is a very promising method for noninvasive assessment of renal function such as renal perfusion or glomular filtration rate. The acquisition of DCE-MRI for that purpose is usually performed during free breathing because the scan duration, necessary for data analysis, is typically in the order of several minutes. The ph...

Normalized gradient fields for nonlinear motion correction of DCE-MRI time series

Dynamic MR image recordings (DCE-MRI) of moving organs using bolus injections create two different types of dynamics in the images: (i) spatial motion artifacts due to patient movements, breathing and physiological pulsations that we want to counteract and (ii) signal intensity changes during contrast agent wash-in and wash-out that we want to preserve. Proper image registration is needed to co...

Validation of Registration for Renal Dynamic Contrast Enhanced MRI Imaging

In Dynamic Contrast Enhanced Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI), abdomen is scanned repeatedly and rapidly after injection of a contrast agent. During data acquisition, collected images suffer from the motion induced by the patient if he/she moves or breathes heavily during the scan. Therefore, these images should be aligned accurately to correct the motion. Recently, mutual information (MI) registrat...

A New CAD System for the Evaluation of Kidney Diseases Using DCE-MRI

Acute rejection is the most common reason of graft failure after kidney transplantation, and early detection is crucial to survive the transplanted kidney function. In this paper, we introduce a new approach for the automatic classification of normal and acute rejection transplants from Dynamic Contrast Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI). The proposed algorithm consists of three main...
